People are invited to Lairdsland Primary School today, Wednesday March 18, from 4.30-7.30pm for an exhibition of old photos to mark the end of an era.
The new £7.7 million school building officially opens its doors after the Easter holidays.
Meanwhile, teachers and pupils are celebrating their current school building’s 140-year-old history with a series of events, exhibitions and visits.
Former teachers, pupils and staff are especially asked to come along tonight to see a range of photos put together by pupils and have a tour of the old school building to share their memories before it closes for good.
The existing Victorian building has occupied the Kerr Street site ever since it was built in 1875, but in recent decades the facilites have become outdated, leading to calls for the new school to be delivered.
