More than £2,000 has been raised for a children’s hospital thanks to a grateful family.

Margaret Smith’s great-grandaughters Kiara Barrie (6) and her three-year-old sister, Jessica-Paige, were born with cystic fibrosis.

Kiara and Jessica-Paige, who live in Kirkintilloch, have to take daily medication and undergo physiotherapy. They also regularly attend the Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital for check-ups.

To say thanks for the care the girls receive, their great-gran Margaret Smith once again organised a fundraiser for the hospital.

It was held in Kirkintilloch Miners Club and included live music, a raffle and auction. A total of £2,050 was raised.

Margaret (75) said: “It was a really great night and I would like to thank everyone who came along and who supported it with raffle and auction prizes.

“The Cystic Fibrosis Unit are exceptional and the girls are well looked after.”
