A NEW state-of-the-art crime campus is taking shape.

The Scottish Government has awarded a £3.5million contract to fit out Gartcosh Crime Campus to Balfour Beatty last week.

Work on the final phase is due to begin in April.

The £80million campus will house 1,100 key crimefighting staff from a number of agencies as well as a state-of-the-art forensics lab.

It is set to be fully operational in 2013, with the first agencies moving in later this year.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Government said: “Good progress is being made.”
