Festive season safety tips

THE Christmas party season is set to kick off this week in Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs and the surrounding areas.

Police have some safety advice to help you have a safe and enjoyable festive night out.

-Make appropriate travel arrangements before going out. Travel with friends when you can and pre order a taxi or use a firm you have used in the past.

-The most common date rape drug is alcohol, with victims being given drinks with a higher alcohol content than they think. Watch your drinks and food to ensure nothing is added to them

-Try to never leave a drink unattended if going to the toilet or the dance floor and if it has don’t drink any more of it

-If someone you don’t know offers you a drink politely decline or go with them to the bar to ensure nothing is added to it

-If you meet someone on a night out don’t go home with them and don’t invite them home with you, arrange a second date and meet in a public place to get to know the person better

-Pay attention to your instincts

-Most important of all - know your limits
