First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was in Kirkintilloch last Saturday to officially open the Scottish National Party’s new campaign office for East Dunbartonshire.

More than 200 people turned up to see the SNP leader cut the ribbon at the premises at 59 Townhead.

The party’s candidate for East Dunbartonshire, John Nicolson, who joined her at the opening, said: “We had a crowd of just over 200 by the time the First Minister arrived so we were delighted with the turnout.

“She posed for pictures with a group of former LibDems who have decided to vote SNP in May’s election.”
