Forest work earns youngsters praise at national awards

A scheme which supports vulnerable young people into employment, education, training and volunteering has been highly commended at a national awards ceremony.

The recognition for the Positive Achievements project, based in Kirkintilloch, came at the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards, where the strength of their environmental work was highlighted.

Young people involved with the project take part in a conservation and gardening initiative, making a real difference to their local environment while gaining skills, experience and knowledge.

They have been working with the Scottish Forestry Commission to conserve and develop land to improve access to overgrown areas of paths and woodland that are part of walking routes.
