Fury over traffic-choked town centre

GRIDLOCK brought a town centre to a standstill last week after roadworks were left in place despite work ending.

Repairs were being carried out over the weekend on Westerhill Road, but despite signs saying it would be finished by the Sunday evening, traffic restrictions were still in place during the Monday morning rush hour.

Meanwhile, an accident on the M80 meant many drivers opted to use the A803 going through Bishopbriggs instead - with the increased traffic making the chaos even worse.

One angry taxi driver said: “It was ridiculous. They still had the signs up saying the work would be finished by Sunday.

“What made it worse was that there was no work being done. It seems they just couldn’t be bothered clearing up until Monday.

“There were massive delays because of it.”
