CROWDS flocked to Bishopbriggs Gala Day on Saturday and voted it one of the best ever community events.
Hundreds of residents visited the Fort Theatre to get involved in the first Bishopbriggs Gala Day to be held as part of the town’s Thomas Muir Festival.
The successful event featured all the traditional gala activities, including the crowning of Gala Queen Talia Marwaha (12) from Bishopbriggs Academy and a rainbow ride procession, which took the queen and her princesses, Alana Hamilton and Kaitlin Woods, through the town on a rickshaw.
Residents were also treated to performances by East Dunbartonshire Cycle Co-operative’s BMX club and Bishopbriggs ceilidh band, as well as a Songs of Praise show.
A spokesperson for Bishopbriggs Community Council, who organised the gala day, said: “It went fabulously well. Despite torrential rain, gale force winds and a hail storm it has still been judged to be the best gala we’ve had in years.”
Gala Queen Talia Marwaha is pictured taking a well-deserved break during the proceedings.
