Gala Queen begins her royal duties in Kirkintilloch

WHILE the rest of the country was celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubliee over the weekend, another ‘royal’ occasion was taking place in Kirkintilloch.

East Dunbartonshire Provost Una Walker officially crowned Rachel McMillan as Gala Queen in the town’s Regent Gardens.

The ceremony marked the start of Kirkintilloch Gala Week.

Rachel was joined by former Gala Queen Faye Bautista and attendants Morag McKay, Kayleigh McGill, Alan Moffat and James Scott.

Kirkintilloch Gala Day takes place this Saturday, June 9, and kicks off with the traditional parade, from William Patrick Library at 1pm to Woodhead Park.

The event will open at 1.30pm.
