BEAT those New Year blues with the famous Lenzie Jog!

You are being invited to kick-start 2012 and run off those unwanted extra Christmas pounds by joining in the Lenzie Jog on Monday, January 2

Lenzie Community Council and Kirkintilloch Olympians have teamed up to offer this unique event for all local residents.

Whatever your fitness level, you are invited to go along and join in the fun run.

Registration will be at Lenzie Union Church Old Hall starting at 10am – costing 50p for children and £1 for adults – to cover refreshments and arrangements on the day.

Races will start promptly at 11am from Cedar Drive, next to the now-closed BP Garage on Kirkintilloch Road, and there are three distances to choose from.

There’s a 2km run for children and a 4.5km circuit for adults, which can be completed either once or twice, depending on each runner’s stamina and level of fitness.

There will be marshals along the route to ensure safety and fair play for all participants.

A spokesperson for the community council said: “The Lenzie Jog is an annual tradition and a fun event for all the family. Mums, dads, kids, grannies and even pets are all welcome.

“Everyone is encouraged to come along and to join in if possible. And for those who can’t or don’t want to jog – we hope they will come along as well to offer moral support to those who do.”
