A PRISON officer has been suspended following a security breach at the new Low Moss Prison in the outskirts of Bishopbriggs.

It’s alleged the officer, who has not been named, was caught opening the front gates of the jail to have a cigarette.

The first prisoners started moving into the new £120million high security jail back in March.

A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed the suspension and added: “We cannot comment on individual cases.”
