Hillhead centre razed to the ground

A KIRKINTILLOCH community resource centre has been demolished to make way for new housing.

The facility in was razed to the ground last month.

Services that were delivered from the resource centre in Hillhead, Kirkintilloch, are now provided from other council buildings.

And the credit union has moved to Hillhead Community Education Centre.

Kenny Simpson, head of East Dunbartonshire Council’s housing and community services said: “The site of the former Hillhead Resource Centre and surrounding land will be used to develop new council houses in partnership with Hillhead Housing Association.

“This site forms part of a larger area currently being redeveloped by the association, which completes the final phase of their housing regeneration new build proposals for Hillhead.

“This project ties in with our local housing strategy, which aims to provide affordable housing for local people.”
