A MASSIVE new retail and housing development could change the face of a residential village forever.
Iris Strategic Land Fund Ltd, a property investment company, has announced it intends to apply for planning permission to develop a site near Avenuehead Road, Moodiesburn.
The scheme includes an undisclosed amount of housing, a supermarket, several other retail units, a new pavilion for the nearby playing field, parking and an extension to the village’s Bedlay Cemetery.
Residents will have their chance to have a say on the development at a public exhibition expected to take place towards the end of May.
Strathkelvin councillor Frances McGlinchey said: “I would urge people to get involved and make their feelings known.
“This would be using up greenspace and would have a major impact on the local infrastructure and community.”
