A BUMPER Lottery ‘win’ has meant members of Muirhead and District Seniors Forum are preparing for a special birthday trip.

The forum received £10,000 from the Big Lottery’s Awards for All scheme.

The group will use the cash to take 46 members on a five-day trip to Chester to celebrate its 21st anniversary.

Liz Moffat, forum secretary, said: “We’re delighted, it’s a fantastic way to celebrate our 21st birthday.

“A lot of our original members will be going on the trip and we’re all really looking forward to it.

“It was a bit of a shock when we found out how much we’d got, we hadn’t applied for that amount. The Lottery have been very generous.”

The group has members in Gartcosh, Moodiesburn, Stepps and Muirhead.

John Wilson MSP said: “The on-going benefits which community groups like this bring to those living in the local area should never be underestimated. I would like to wish Muirhead and District Seniors Forum every success on their trip and congratulate everyone involved on their hard work and tireless efforts in securing this funding.”
