Using mobile devices at night could be harming children.

The blue light from smart phones, tablets, TVs and laptops disrupts melatonin production, which can affect sleep patterns.

Morven Campbell, Clinical Services Manager at eye care specialists Black & Lizars, Milngavie, says children who spend a lot of time on their devices at night are at greater risk than adults because their eyes are clear and their pupils are larger.

She suggests that children should not be allowed to use their devices for at least one hour before they go to bed.
