YOUNGSTERS and families are jumping for joy thanks to a whopping funding boost to install new equipment and upgrade a playpark.
The Adamslie Playpark Group has been awarded £40,541 from Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN).
The group has been spearheading plans to upgrade the playpark in Adamslie Drive, Kirkintilloch, for more than two years.
It recently received £9,985 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme.
The latest funding boost means the group can press ahead with the project, which will cost around £50,000.
The new equipment has been chosen by local children.
Mum Fiona McDonald, chairperson of the playpark group, said: “We are over the moon.
“I can’t believe we have managed to get all the funding ourselves.
“The funding from the Big Lottery was for safety mats and one piece of equipment, so the latest money will pay for the rest of the equipment.
“It will depend on the weather when the work is completed, but it will be done by the summer.”
William Beattie, from WREN, said: “This award will allow the youngsters in the community to enjoy a brand new play area and all the benefits this brings to healthy living.”
