A LEADING trade organisation has named a former Kirkintilloch resident as one of the brightest minds in the world of sales and marketing.

Gareth Gaston (38), who works in the USA as a senior vice-president at the Wyndham Hotel Group, was recently honoured as one of the ‘Top 25 Minds in Sales and Marketing’ by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

Gareth’s dad Lex, who passed away in 2011, was a prominent businessman and former chairman of the Save Stobhill Hospital campaign, while his mum Myra still lives locally.

Gareth collected his award at a ceremony held at the exclusive New York Marriott Marquis Hotel, just two years after joining the Wyndham Group where he specialises in e-commerce.

Gareth said: “HSMAI is a leading organisation in the hospitality industry and as such, this is a very humbling honour.

“To be recognised with so many other outstanding individuals is a great thrill and wonderful testament to all of those who have helped me get to where I am today.”
