A super centenarian has marked her 100th birthday in style by partying with friends and family in her local social club.
Mary Starr celebrated the landmark occasion at Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare club recently.
She’s lived with her family in Kirkintilloch all her life and is a loyal member of the club - which had never hosted a 100th birthday before.
The birthday girl was joined by Lord Lieutenant Major Gary McLeod, who presented Mary with The Queen’s telegram, and Provost Una Walker, who gave her a basket of flowers.
Mary said: “What a fantastic night - I couldn’t have asked for anything better”.
Generous Mary told guests she didn’t want any presents - and instead asked people to make a donation to charity.
Thanks to the generosity of her family and friends an amazing £1,000 was raised.
Mary added: “Many thanks for organising the buffet to my daughter Marie, her husband Jim and my granddaughters Vicki, who made fabulous invitations, and Yvonne, who made the cake which was amazing.
“Thanks to everyone who attended the party and made my birthday a very special day to remember.
“Also, many thanks to Flo and the committee for their generosity and the treasured memories their gift has given me.”
