A memorial garden dedicated to a campaigning local councillor is set to be unveiled later this month.

Former council leader Charles Kennedy, who lived in Milton of Campsie, has been much-missed since passing away last year at the age of 63.

The village’s community council have created a memorial garden near Milton of Campsie Cross, which will be opened on Sunday, September 15, at 2.30pm.

The new landmark contains a marble seat and will join a long list of tributes paid to Councillor Kennedy - including a boat, a school library and a stained glass window.

A community council spokesperson told the Herald that all were welcome to join the ceremony, expected to be attended by Councillor Kennedy’s family, friends and colleagues.
