Bishopbriggs Library has become one of the first libraries in Scotland to be awarded Dementia Friendly status by Alzheimer Scotland.
Library employees were invited to take part in awareness sessions delivered by Alzheimer Scotland as part of an initiative to help create Dementia Friendly Communities.
Library employees received a ‘hints and tips’ guide and were also given a demonstration of how small changes to the environment can support people with dementia to feel part of their community.
Councillor Anne Jarvis, chair of EDLC Trust, said: “I am delighted that Bishopbriggs Library has become one of the first libraries in the country to receive this award. I hope its success will inspire our other culture and leisure facilities to also work towards achieving Dementia Friendly status.”
