Addicts offered help at new ‘Foundry’
PEOPLE battling drug or alcohol addictions can receive help at a new rehabilitation service.
The new facility, on Kirkintilloch’s Broadcroft, has been named ‘The Foundry’.
It is being run by East Dunbartonshire Council in partnership with the SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), with funding from East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership.
A team of five professionals are already helping 55 people with addiction issues, with plenty of capacity for more in the future.
Councillor Michael O’Donnell, convener of the council’s social work committee, opened the premises - which offers a range of activities including relaxation workshops and acupuncture.
He said: “It was a great pleasure for me to open ‘The Foundry’.
“A service such as this has been much needed and it will be invaluable to those already using it and to those who will come through its doors in the future.
