All creatures great and small welcomed to Lenzie church

THERE was a great turnout of four-legged friends at a special church service recently.

The pet blessing service was recently held for the third year at St Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, in Lenzie.

There were 16 dogs, a cat, a guinea pig and three degus (bush-tailed rodents from central Chile).

Reverend Moira Jamieson, who has two cocker spaniels, decided to hold the service for the first time two years ago and it has proved a hit.

The 30-minute service included hymns and an individual blessing for each animal.

The Cats Protection charity also attended the service and received £104 in donations.
