Allan Glen's celebrate ... at the double!
THE corks were popping as both Allan Glen's first and second XV teams celebrated winning their respective leagues.
For the firsts it marked the culmination of a terrific season in which they've finished as National League Division Three champions with more than 80 points.
Allan Glen's stand-off and coach Greg Sinclair says the coaching staff and the players at the Bishopbriggs club deserve immense credit for the "family-type atmosphere" they've developed this season.
Greg said: "What else could you ask for in a season?
"We finished fourth last year and should have gone up and I think that was a big motivation this time around.
"We've had the second XV guys pushing the firsts for places and the right mix of experienced players helping the younger guys – the average age of the backs is 22/23 and if all goes well that could be there for the next 10 years."
The Bearyards club have no fears stepping up the ladder into a higher division next season.
Greg said: "We beat Waysiders from the second division in the Scottish Cup and they finished fourth.
"Our target is top six by mid-season, but there's no reason why we can't keep the fires burning and go for a double promotion."
Allan Glen's attracted more than 200 to Saturday's game.
Greg added: "That's a sizeable crowd for a community club. Our biggest thanks is to the supporters, they've really been there for the club."
