A SUPER-fit soldier from Lenzie has raised almost £600 for Mcmillan Cancer Support before heading out for his third tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Mark McLaren took part in the Loch Ness Marathon last month and completed the course in an impressive three hours and 44 minutes.

Through his fundraising efforts the former St Ninian’s High School pupil raised £570 for the cancer charity.

Mark, a corporal in the Royal Highland Fusiliers, is due to return to Camp Bastion next month along with his brother James, who is also a corporal in the army.
