Bishopbriggs congregation is building for the future

A massive fundraising campaign has enabled members at Cadder Parish Church to submit a successful bid to buy the North Hall, in Cadder Road, after the owners put the building up for sale.

The Bishopbriggs church has leased the hall for years, but faced the prospect of losing the premises unless 245,000 could be found to buy it.

Congregation members rallied to the cause and have so far raised around 175,000 through donations and interest-free loans.

To celebrate the purchase of the hall a special 'housewarming' was held recently.

Church officials are now appealing for help to bridge the funding gap, to prevent having to use reserve funds.

Reverend Graham Finch said: "We are immensely grateful to our members for their incredible generosity in responding to our appeal.

"We are confident the target will be reached, but we would welcome the support of the wider Bishopbriggs community.

"Having outright ownership of the hall will enable us to invite local groups to make much more use of the premises.

"Our members also have some exciting ideas for new projects based at the hall, so we hope people can help us with one final push to reach the purchase price and preserve the hall for community use."
