Bishopbriggs masterplan will be watched

A CLOSE eye is being kept on developers who aim to transform a town centre.

Muse Developments have submitted a revised outline planning application for the project in Bishopbriggs, which is set to include a large retail store, retail units, a mix of new homes and a new care home.

At last week's meeting of Bishopbriggs Community Council, a number of concerns were raised over the project, including the impact on parking, road safety, whether the developments would be 'in keeping' with the surrounding buildings and the impact on local shops.

But it was agreed to hold fire on any direct involvement until more detailed plans are announced.

Dominic Notarangelo, chairman of Bishopbriggs Community Council, said: "We will be keeping a close eye on the planning process, but at the moment it is just at the outline stage.

"The council is responding to an application by the developer and in doing that will go through a process of consultation with the police, fire brigade, roads department and other agencies.

"At this stage in the process we have to place our trust in the people who deal with this consultation.

"When it gets to the more detailed aesthetic stage we will certainly have our say."

See this week's Herald for more information about the future of Bishopbriggs.
