Bishopbriggs sport hall demolition 'oversight'

NO action will be taken against a company who knocked down a sports hall without permission.

The hall, which was built just seven years before at a cost of 800,000, was bulldozed back in April as part of the demolition of the former Bishopbriggs Academy site.

However, it emerged that Morgan Sindall, the company responsible for the site, did not have a demolition warrant to remove the facility.

East Dunbartonshire Council subsequently raised the matter with the procurator fiscal.

A council spokesperson said: "The information was sent to the Procurator Fiscal's office where it was fully investigated.

"The Procurator Fiscal decided to take no further action."
