Calling all our queens and princesses – this is going to be a right royal do!

PAST queens and princesses are being begged to come out of retirement as part of a right royal celebration in Bishopbriggs.

Bishopbriggs Community Council will hold its Gala Day at Brackenbrae House during the Queen’s Jubilee weekend in June.

And it is asking former gala queens and princesses to get involved to mark the milestone occasion.

A spokesperson for Bishopbriggs Community Council said: “This will be a real nostalgia trip for the community and it will make this year’s gala even more special.

“It may be the Queen’s Jubilee but Bishopbriggs has got its own queens and princesses. We want to find as many of them as possible and ask them to relive their youth by taking part in this year’s special event.”

It will be the second time the community council will hold the gala at Brackenbrae House after moving there last year for the Thomas Muir Festival.

It now intends to expand the event after its success last year.

The spokesperson added: “We accidentally discovered what a fabulous venue Brackenbrae House was last year.

“We now want to take what we did last year and build on those expectations. We feel we need to take what’s gone before and make it even better.”
