North Lanarkshire Council has welcomed the announcement of a £1.1bn ‘City Deal’ for Glasgow and the Clyde Valley.
The investment, which allows Clyde Valley councils to progress major infrastructure works, was announced last week.
And projects worth £172.5million to North Lanarkshire could now be taken forward subject.
The schemes include investment in the roads infrastructure serving the Gartcosh Community Growth Area, road capacity and bus improvements around the M80, M74 and M77 and improved road/cycling/public transport access to businesses along the A8/M8 corridor.
Further planning and discussions will now take place before final decisions are made by the council.
