Crumbling road causes hole lot of bother for drivers

A MOTORIST’S wheel has been left severely damaged after hitting a pothole in Kirkintilloch.

The crater in Langmuir Road, Harestanes, is several inches wide and means drivers have to cross into the path of oncoming traffic to avoid it.

A resident, whose daughter hit the pothole, said: “This shows yet another local dangerous road surface which drivers need to be made aware of.

“Avoiding this hole, if you are aware of it, requires crossing over into the path of oncoming traffic.

“My daughter’s car wheel was severely damaged due to this particular hole, which is over four inches wide and extends another four inches from kerb out into the road.”

East Dunbartonshire Council recently announced a £21.5million programme to upgrade and repair some of the district’s pothole littered roads over the next five years.
