‘Dangerous’ quad bikers slammed after using canal towpath in Kirkintilloch
RECKLESS quad bikers have been warned to steer clear of a picturesque path.
The Herald has received several complaints about the vehicles speeding down the Forth and Clyde Canal footpath, near Kirkintilloch, on Sunday, July 22.
One walker, who asked not to be named, said: “I went up to tell one of them they shouldn’t be on the path and he just muttered something about going to get his bike repaired. Three of his friends then joined him and they sped off.
“It’s so dangerous for them to ride down the path and some of them don’t even have registration plates so they can’t be insured.”
A spokesperson from Strathclyde Police urged concerned residents to contact them about any worries regarding the bikes.
She added: “We do have an off-road police motorcycle team who are active in this area at the moment and who are targeting this problem.”
