Date set for crunch council meeting on primary school mergers

COUNCILLORS are set to meet next month to progress controversial plans to merge schools across East Dunbartonshire.

An informal consultation was recently held on the shortlist of options provided by council officers following a review of the council’s non-secondary school estate.

Protesting parents have made their feelings known through a series of protest and petitions urging councillors to think again.

But council leader Rhondda Geekie has repeatedly said that “doing nothing is not an option”.

Last week it was revealed that a special meeting of the full council will be held on Wednesday, March 27, to discuss the administration coalition’s proposals to move forward with the plans.
