East Dunbartonshire Council takes over business support scheme

THE Business Gateway Service, which helps start-up and existing businesses, has come under council control.

Funded by the Scottish Government, the service helps businesses through a combination of online support, workshops and advice from a network of experienced business advisers.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s Business Services team took over the running of the service on October 1.

Currently there are around 3,000 small businesses in the local area providing a vital source of employment to the East Dunbartonshire economy.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of development and infrastructure, said: “In a period of challenging economic conditions, our council is committed to helping local enterprise and supporting business growth.

“Taking this service in-house will improve the quality of customer experience, eliminate duplication and achieve best value for the business community.”
