East Dunbartonshire MP backs Scott

EAST Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson has welcomed the appointment of Tavish Scott as the new leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

In a vote of Liberal Democrat members in Scotland, Mr Scott polled 59 per cent of the votes, compared to 21.3 per cent for his MSP colleague Ross Finnie and 17.9 per cent for Mike Rumbles MSP.

Ms Swinson said: "I am delighted that Tavish Scott has been chosen as the new leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

"Tavish has the right blend of experience, energy and enthusiasm to lead the Lib Dems as we take the fight to the SNP and Labour in Scotland."

She added: "I look forward to working with Tavish as he sets the Liberal Democrats on a new footing at Holyrood and across the whole of Scotland."
