Elderly woman loses her life in tragic blaze
AN elderly woman died during a house fire in Springburn.
Firefighters from Springburn and Bishopbriggs stations rushed to the scene in Everard Drive.
The alarm was raised yesterday morning (Thursday) at around 2.55am.
Initially smoke was seen coming from the roof. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property.
Sadly the woman was found dead.
A joint investigation into the cause of the blaze is being carried out by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Strathclyde Police.
The tragedy follows another fatal fire just weeks ago in a house in Barmulloch. A 69-year-old woman - who suffered burns - was taken to hospital where she died days later.
