Family devastated after senseless attack by vandals

FIRE thugs destroyed a treasured family caravan in an act of “total badness”.

The caravan, belonging to Trisha McMurray, was one of two believed to have been deliberately torched by vandals.

They both sat in the communal car park at the back of Alloway Drive, in Harestanes, Kirkintilloch.

Residents raised the alarm and managed to put out the fire in one caravan.

But Trisha’s was engulfed in flames and the blaze had to be put out by firefighters.

The caravan and its contents, worth hundreds of pounds, have been left destroyed.

Trisha said: “When we moved in nine years ago, our neighbours gave us the caravan as we had three young kids.

“We had a lot of good times in it and went to different places. It has a lot of sentimental value.

“I made all the curtains and bedding and a lot of my husband and son’s camping equipment was in it. It’s been left gutted. It’s so sad.

“There’s minimal damage to the other caravan and no-one knows who owns it, it’s sat there for two years.”

Firefighters rushed to the scene of the blaze on Wednesday, January 11, just before midnight.

Trisha added: “This has been done out of total badness.”

Anyone with information about the incident can contact the police on 0141 532 4400.
