Fine and ban for football hooligan
in sectarian chants

A football hooligan from Bishopbriggs has been fined and banned from matches for six months for chanting sectarian songs.

Jordan Robertson was one of a number of fans heard singing the offensive songs at the Glasgow Rangers away match in Berwick, south of the Border on February 23 this year.

After the televised Third Division fixture between Berwick Rangers and Glasgow Rangers, police investigated the incident.

Robertson and another fan, John Fordham from Dalry in Ayrshire were arrested when they attended another match at Ibrox. Both were charged under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, Robertson was fined £400 and Fordham £200.

The latter was also banned for six months.

Although the offences were all committed in England, legislation enabled the two to be prosecuted in Scotland.
