STAFF past and present had a get-together at Kirkintilloch Fire Station recently to celebrate the history of Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.

A shake-up means that as of April 1 the eight existing Scottish fire authorities will merge to become a single organisation – The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Everybody who had worked at the fire station during its 58-year history was welcomed to the open evening.

A spokesperson from Kirkintilloch Fire Station said: “It was a very successful night – one of a number of events to mark the end of Strathclyde Fire Service. “Plenty of former fire staff came along to enjoy a curry and a catch-up and many brought old photos and memorabilia of their time at the station.”
