First class funding boost

A SECONDARY school has received a BIG funding boost from the National Lottery.

Lenzie Academy received 1,000 from the Big Lottery fund as part of its 2014 communities grants programme, which aims to encourage more people to get involved in sports and physical activities.

The money will be used to buy 10 coaching kits, equipment and to pay for transportation costs for the school's netball team.

East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson said: "I am delighted that Lenzie Academy will be receiving this 1,000 award.

"It is really important that the Glasgow Commonwealth Games provide lasting opportunities for people to get involved in sport, especially children, and this scheme is doing a great job of ensuring that."
