Flying high with the stunt Riderz in Bishopbriggs
PEDAL power ensure the Riderz stunt cycling team were popular visitors to St Matthew's and St Helen's primary schools, in Bishopbriggs, last week.
Cycling Scotland and East Dunbartonshire Council are co-ordinating a 'Cycle to School' campaign targeting children and their parents.
The six-week campaign will be centred around local schools to promote 'Cycle Friendly Zones' – areas where drivers are asked to give children as much space as possible so they can make an easy and safe journey to class.
Councillor John Dempsey, vice-convener of East Dunbartonshire Council's development and infrastructure committee said: "This is an excellent campaign. I am delighted that more children are using their bikes to go to school. I would encourage drivers to be more vigilant when driving near schools."
Bishopbriggs currently has more Cycle Friendly Schools than any other town in Scotland. For more pictures from the BMX display go to the Herald's website: www.kirkintilloch-herald.co.uk
