A young dance graduate is hoping to be crowned Miss Galaxy Scotland this week after helping to raise money and awareness for charity.
Freya Taylor gained the title of Miss Dunbartonshire Galaxy in January and will battle it out with 18 other girls for the Scottish crown tomorrow (Thursday) in Preston.
As well as the glitz and glamour of the pageant, it’s also heavily focused on charity.
The winner of Miss Galaxy will then gain a place in the international finals.
Freya, from Torrance, is also running her own competition, Miss National Treasure, which is raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which she co-ordinates a volunteer group for.
Freya said: “Most people hear the term ‘beauty pageant’ and automatically think airhead girls with big hair, preaching about world peace. I used to think the same until I actually got involved with them.
“Many pageants now are heavily focused on the charity and community aspect, which all contributes to a contestants final score.
“The Galaxy Girls that I am competing with have already done so well in raising money and awareness for, not only their own charities, but for The Christie, which Galaxy Pageants UK is supporting.”
