THE future of Bishopbriggs town centre has been the subject of ‘encouraging’ and ‘constructive’ discussions

Deputy council leader Billy Hendry and Dominic Notarangelo, from the Bishopbriggs Town Team, met with a representative from Morrisons last week.

Morrisons bought the former Bishopbriggs High School site in 2010 and plan to build a new superstore on it.

However, initial plans caused a public outcry, forcing the superstore giants to go back to the drawing board and engage with local residents and community groups to draw up new proposals.

Councillor Hendry said: “It was a very constructive meeting. Both parties were encouraged by the discussions.”

He now plans to set up a meeting to bring various stakeholders together to discuss the town centre.

Dominic Notarangelo said: “The meeting went very well. Bishopbriggs will only improve if everyone comes to the table.”
