Horror dog attack on 18-month-old girl in Springburn house

A BABY girl was rushed to hospital with “serious facial injuries” after being attacked by a dog last week.

Police say that the 18-month-old was bitten by the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in a house in Hawthorn Street, Springburn, at around 11.40pm on Friday, February 8.

Police say that the girl was taken to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital where hospital staff described her condition as “serious but stable”.

A Strathclyde Police spokesperson added: “The dog, plus one other of the same breed, has been seized by officers and a 51-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged offence under the dangerous dogs act.”
