Jobs boost on the way at water factory

THE expansion of a bottled water company is set to create up to 60 new jobs.

Greencore Mineral Water, one of the UK`s leading suppliers of own-brand water, currently employs around 140 people at the Campsie Spring plant, in Lennoxtown.

The company recently announced an investment of 2million to extend the pallet and loading facilities at the factory, part of a planned 12million expansion programme started in 2004.

The new extension was kicked-off last week when Greencore managing director David Price cut the first sod on the site.

Mr Price said: "As a company, we are hugely committed to our facility in Lennoxtown. This investment will further consolidate our position as a market leader and underline our commitment to drive the company forward."

Once the expansion programme is completed in April this year, Greencore anticipate their workforce growing to around 200 people, providing a real jobs boost for the area.

Jim Gilmour, chairman of the Lennoxtown Initiative regeneration project said: "We are absolutely delighted that Greencore are making this significant investment in Lennoxtown."
