St Mary’s Parish Church is gearing up for a fortnight of activities to commemorate the opening of the church building 100 years ago.
Beginning with a centenary concert this Friday, the church will then hold a Flower Festival in the build-up to its Centenary Service next month.
The extended St Mary’s choir have also produced a centenary CD for sale and will be looking to publish a new history booklet to charter the chronology of the building.
The Centenary Concert begins at 7pm this Friday with performances from Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir as well as the extended church choir who will sing hymns which feature on the CD.
The St Mary’s Youth Group and Scratch Choir will also perform as part of the event.
On September 6-7, the church will hold its Flower Festival — a tradition which has accompanied previous significant events in the church’s history
The Centenary Service will then take place on Sunday, September 14, with invited guests including the Lord Lieutenant, the leader of the council, Jo Swinson MP and others.
