Kirkintilloch in full voice to celebrate 90 years
A LEGENEDARY choir is tuning up for its new season and a special birthday.
Celebrations will soon get under way to mark 90 years of Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir.
In October, members will be recording their first CD, a book on the choir is being produced and in April next year they will be joined at their 90th annual concert by special guests Cardiff Male Voice Choir.
The year of celebration will finish off with a special dinner.
Since the choir was founded in 1921 by John Knox, they have only had a further three conductors, John Knox's son Andrew and grandson Ian, and Sally McLellan.
Sally and accompanist David Burns have led KMVC since 1999.
The 45-member choir has travelled throughout the country and has a reputation of being one of the best male voice choirs in Scotland.
As a registered charity, they perform for local and national good causes raising thousands of pounds over the years.
They have performed at the Glasgow Concert Hall, the SECC prior to a Katherine Jenkins concert, and at the 50th celebrations of Cardiff becoming the capital of Wales.
KMVC are previous winners of the male voice section at the Glasgow Music Festival.
The choir's first rehearsal of the session was held this week.
