HAVE your say on a draft Gaelic Language Plan for East Dunbartonshire.

The local authority has put together the draft document which contains an action plan for Gaelic Language delivery over the next three years,

It’s been produced in accordance with the requirements of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 and demonstrates the council’s commitment to promote Gaelic.

The plan is available on the council’s website for comment until Thursday, March 28.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie, said: “In East Dunbartonshire we have a good tradition of Gaelic language provision and a successful Gaelic Language Unit and nursery within Meadowburn Primary in Bishopbriggs.

“Our draft plan reflects the activity that currently takes place in East Dunbartonshire along with proposals to ensure that the council meets the requirements of the Gaelic Language Act.”

At the end of the six week consultation period, a report will be prepared for Councillors then a final draft of the Plan will be submitted to the Gaelic Board (Bord na Gaidhlig).
