A COWARDLY thug was forced to flee after his intended elderly victims refused to give him money.

The callous crook knocked on the front door of a house in Crowhill Road, Bishopbriggs.

When a woman answered the door he threatened her with violence and demanded she give him cash and her handbag.

But when the woman’s pensioner husband came to her aid a scuffle broke out, and the would-be robber left empty-handed.

A police spokesperson told the Herald: “This was a really upsetting crime which took place in broad daylight. It was quite an ordeal for the couple involved.

“We would encourage anybody who may have seen this happening to get in touch with us immediately.”

The man was described as being 20-25-years-old, 5ft8ins tall with a local accent.

He was wearing a dark-coloured anorak with a hood, light blue jeans and dark trainers.

Anyone with information about the incident, that happened at around 12.15pm on Saturday, June 2, can contact Kirkintilloch Police Office on 0141 532 4400.
