A woman’s pet dog suffered a broken nose and jaw after a car crashed into the garden fence at the
family home.

Ruby McGregor says five year-old Mollie is now too scared to go out after the accident.

The much-loved Border Collie was lying in the garden when the vehicle hit the heavy metal fence and it came down on top of her.

Ruby, of Crow Road, Lennoxtown, said: “I had just gone in to the house to get Mollie’s lead to go for a
walk when I heard this loud noise.

“When I walked outside, I saw the car had hit the fence but I couldn’t see Mollie. She was underneath it.

“Mollie had been lying in the garden behind it when the accident happened.

“She was knocked unconscious and I thought we had lost her.”

Mollie suffered head and facial injuries and had to have an operation. Her nose and her jaw were broken.

Ruby is appealing for motorists driving on the stretch of road to be extra careful.

She said: “There have been accidents here over the past few years. I would like to put out an appeal to drivers to be extra careful on this particular stretch of the road.”

A police spokesman said a 49-year-old man had been reported to the procurator fiscal in relation to the
incident and for a number of alleged road traffic contraventions.
