St Joseph’s PTA handed over a cheque to St Margaret’s Hospice recently in memory of Angela Nicol - who recently lost her battle with cancer.

Angela (42), a married mum of two girls aged 11 and six, was an active member of St Joseph’s Primary School PTA in Milngavie.

They raised £500 for the hospice - where Angela had spent the last few months of her life - by holding various events including a walk from Milngavie to Balmaha along part of the West Highland Way on Saturday, May 3.

Angela had helped her friend Julie Cairney to organise the event and had hoped to be able to wave everyone off on the day but she tragically passed away just before it took place.

Angela, who was a former pupil at St Joseph’s Primary, fought a brave battle since her diagnosis of an aggressive form of kidney cancer when she was only 39.

Julie said: “She wanted to repay St Margaret’s Hospice staff for all the loving care, kindness and support she received from them.

“She was an amazing lady, so courageous, and she never complained or asked why me? “
